Keri is one of the northernmost islands in Estonia and has been an important landmark for the sailors throughout history. Visiting the lighthouse built under the command of Peter the Great is an experience by itself. Keri Island is the first place in Estonia where natural gas sources were discovered about 100 years ago. The lighthouse on the island was powered by the local natural gas for 6 years and it was also the first place in Estonia for a gas stove. There are a few buildings that have remained since the days when an island watchman and border control were present on the island.
