Winter Wonderland in Prangli. True winter adventures await on Prangli island!
Prangli island has been known for Estonians, foreign visitors and sailors as a summer destination, but it is just as wonderful in the winter and all year round.
If you want to experience true Nordic winter adventures, Prangli island is the perfect place for that too! You can have the most comfortable holiday, or just a relaxing weekend while discovering the island, playing in the snow-covered forest and walking on snowy beaches.
During the wintertime, the local ferry goes twice a day to Prangli from Leppneeme harbour near Viimsi, and also comes back twice, so you can plan accordingly. (Tickets ca 6 EUR at www.tuuleliinid.ee).

The island is much more quiet in the winter, making it a perfect place to walk around on your own, take photos of the pristine nature and enjoy the tranquil feeling of being away from everything. There are still many adventures you can undertake on the island all year round – visit quaint little fisherman villages, pine forests and why not even have a winter picnic on one of its picturesque beaches. Just like in the summertime, you can book a tour on the truck or on the ferry, but it is definitely worth staying longer on the island to discover it yourself as well on foot, step by step.
During wintertime, having a walk in the fresh, crisp air through the pine forests of Prangli will rejuvenate the spirit and make you relaxed in no time. Everything will be covered in sparkly snow and you will probably walk in silence for hours. The only animals that can be seen on the island are local dogs and if you are very lucky, a fox that has crossed the ice to visit the island as well. You will have all the beaches of the island just to yourself and the magnificent views call all nature photography lovers to take great photos.

While walking, you will stumble on many curious phenomena that the history of the island has left behind – abandoned plane motors from World War II, natural gas sources and many majestic boulders to climb on that might or not might not have magical powers. Another historical event that took place on Prangli island, the tragedy of the Eestirand shipwreck during war times, has its own memorial on the seaside.
Prangli is definitely worth visiting for more days than one, for a long weekend or why not even a full week to be able to relax completely. You can find the most relaxation at the Villa of Nature Energy after your winter adventures. Only a short walk from the Prangli harbour, Villa on Nature Energy sits on the seaside and includes a breathtaking sea view from its bedrooms and terrace, even in the winter. The brand-new Villa of Nature Energy has four bedrooms downstairs and a wonderful lounge with a sea view upstairs. The whole house is built from end to end with natural materials only and is energy-efficient so you will be taking care of nature just by staying there yourself! In the house, garbage is sorted and recycled carefully and electricity is produced from solar batteries.
You can wake up to the sunrise with a sea view in one of the downstairs bedrooms and have your morning coffee on the terrace with the same breathtaking scenery – nowhere on the island can you be close to the seaside! (And don’t worry, the Baltic Sea is always in the same place with its very low and tide being barely noticeable). True relaxation, peace and quiet can be found in this seaside house for everyone -there is no TV, but you can read, play games, cook together and have the best possible sleep. The house is perfect for larger groups, couples, families, and includes accessibility options for disabled people as well, on both floors of the house.
