By Bike on Prangli Island – Which Places to Visit?
Avaldatud: 01. March 2025
Prangli Island is just the right size (6.4 km²) to explore by bike in a day. The island offers a mix of beautiful natural views and historical sites. The main sights can be visited in about 3 hours, but if you’d like to explore more thoroughly, there’s enough to discover for 5–6 hours.
While locals often prefer motorcycles for getting around, cycling on Prangli is convenient and safe — the main roads are well-marked and well-maintained.
Main bike-accessible locations:
- Community Centre, school, post office and shop – located along the main road and easily accessible.
- Saare Resto – on the northern coast, about 10 to 15 minutes by bike from Kelnase Harbour.
- Mölgi Beach – the most popular swimming spot, about a 30-minute ride.
- Prangli Church – located in the centre of the island, accessible via the paved main road.
- Landscape Protection Area – includes the gas borehole, Eestirand memorial, Prangli Red Rock, and the airplane engine. Forest paths here are easy to ride.
- Northwest Prangli nature – juniper groves and sand dunes where at times you’ll need to walk your bike alongside.
